Trusting Expertise, Not Experts

There is a difference between accepting something as a valid opinion because an expert says it, and accepting something as a valid opinion because it stems from the expert's expertise. If you don't make this distinction when you read experts, I would suggest to you that you have likely been duped into a lot of really poorly thought out ideas, all simply because they were delivered to you by an exalted voice rather than a good argument that elevates itself.
