I know I said I pretty much predicted that the new "fragment" was a forgery, but I'm going to predict, ahead of time now, that Karen King will fight to the finish that it's legit, even if there is no more proof that it is and so many other scholars reject it as legitimate. That's because scholars are the most dogmatic group in the world. They only change their minds if they absolutely have to, and even then, they usually just let things fade rather than make explicit retractions. I don't mean to be cynical, and maybe I'll turn out to be wrong on this one, since so many scholars are against her on this one. I'm just giving you a general assessment though that it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a scholar to admit he (or she in this case) is wrong. Behold, I have told you in advance.
UPDATE: Now HTR is presenting it as needing verification before it is published. Of course, it really depends upon who is doing the verifying. We'll have to see how this fake makes out.
