Arrogance from Two Perspectives

Arrogance - (culturally defined) Believing God has spoken so clearly and authoritatively as to tell others that they must draw the line where God has instructed at the disdain of their own opinions.

Arrogance - (biblically defined) The belief that one has the right to draw the line in doctrine and ethics in disregard of where God has drawn it in His Word.

Thus says the Lord:
“Heaven is My throne,
And earth is My footstool.
Where is the house that you will build Me?
And where is the place of My rest?
For all those things My hand has made,
And all those things exist,”
Says the Lord.
“But within this one will I look [for a dwelling]:
Within him who is humble and of a contrite spirit,
And who trembles at My Word. (Isaiah 66:1-2)
